It is with heavy hearts that the family of Roger Habersham announces that he has unexpectedly left us. We say goodbye to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, trusted friend and neighbor. Roger was a leader, a warrior, a fighter, a survivor and a protector. He enjoyed his life to the fullest he could after his sacrifice for his country. He never backed down and never gave up his long fight after 2 kidney transplants. He will be forever missed by his many relatives and all who knew him and also in the Veteran community and his ex-coworkers.
A Time to Be Born
Roger Lee Habersham was born on the glorious day of June 10, 1949, in Louisville Georgia to the late Janie Habersham Lamar and Moses Lamar. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Willie Mae Habersham, and his grandfather, the late Jack Habersham.
A Time to Life
Roger spent his childhood in Jefferson County, Georgia where he graduated in 1968 from Jefferson High School. He was a star football player. Roger thereafter served ten years in the US Airforce, which changed his life. He then graduated from New Hampshire University in 1980. After 39 years of credit for Federal Service, Roger retired in Clinton, Maryland. He was also the CEO of Habersham builders for over 20 years.
A Time to Embrace
Roger was a no-nonsense person, serious and always on top of things, especially his health. He had a big bite but at the end of the day he was as gentle as a lamb. He enjoyed giving advice, sharing stories and his wisdom on education, work, and success and always meant well. His favorite words are "You can't achieve anything sitting down." Roger enjoyed sports, exercising, bike riding, movies, attending family functions, trips and running his business.
A Time to Past
His memories are cherished by his large extended family. He is survived by his wife Fabienne Habersham, his daughter Jocelyn Habersham and granddaughter Lyric of Washington DC, his sisters Veronica Broomfield and Yvonne Barnes Lamar of Georgia, and his two brothers Alexander Lamar of Virginia and Jesse Habersham of NY, his aunts Betty Green and Rosa Garnes and his many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his son Roger Habersham Jr. Of Landover, Maryland.
Roger would love to hear your fond memories of him on his memories page.
Send flowers to the service of Roger Lee Habersham Sr.
Family, the fun memories we had with Roger will never be forgotten. He often made it a routine to call and check to see how we were doing. He was one that knew something about every subject, so he thought! His wisdom, knowledge, advice and phone calls, certainly will be missed. Your sister. Veronica Evans-Broomfield
Rodger. The good memories, laughs and talks of money. Remembering all the good times. You will always be remembered for you just being you. RIH M. Houston
I had the pleasure of meeting Roger at the post office where we both worked. Roger was my supervisor and I his employee, now let me say I gave him a run for his money, but we had a very good friendship. He will truly be missed.
Though I was a child and Roger already an adult, I do remember that my cousin Roger was a person who worked hard to be someone people could respect. Yet he also had a tender side which the comments show was appreciated and will be remembered. It is comforting to know that his choices in life lead him to choose a loving and supportive wife that gave him the respect he earned even during the difficult days. Sending love and sympathy to my family.

Dear Family, We are so sorry for the lost of our dear brother. There are so many memories it's hard to start. Once when I needed advice on relocating from New York and thought about the Maryland area bro. said," Maryland and DC area is full of ex military people, they get the jobs first, so rethink where you want to be." That wise advice always stayed with me. We will miss Roger.
