Obituary For Richard Reavill

Richard Reavill, age 75, passed away peacefully at home on June 24th, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones.

He was born on March 5th, 1951, in rural Downey, California. After high school, Rick joined the Army and did two tours in Vietnam. During his time in Vietnam, Rick served as a helicopter crew chief and was well respected in his field. Once he was done with the Army, he pursued a career in the oil field. Over the course of 41 years, he worked for Union Oil of California and Chevron doing oil and gas exploration. At the end of his career he ended as a Drill Site Manager, being highly regarded by his peers.

Rick enjoyed working on his homestead, flying his airplane, fishing, watching western movies, and spending time with family and friends. He touched the lives of many through kindness, humor, and love. He is survived by his wife Wendy, children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, sibling, and other family members. Rick viewed family as the most important part of his life.

A celebration of life will take place at Valley Church in Nooksack, Washington on July 18th, 2026, at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choosing.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to PeaceHealth Hospice for their support and care. Rick will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Thank you, General Sealock.

Rick would often mention that he had just talked with you about some recent event. He greatly respected your perspective and vast experience.

Thank you for your service.

It goes without saying that Rick loved to talk about politics. He was always ready to give his opinion – loud and clear.

Perhaps that's why I found it so interesting when, in the last few months, Rick began to talk about his life. For the first time in more than half a century, he shared details that before he had reserved. I believe Rick was going through a process and, like our father, was preparing to meet his Maker.

Rick, like most of us when we reach this age, seeks mainly peace. A peace that eludes us in this reality, but I'm confident that it's a peace that Rick has received now.

May God rest his soul.

Muy sincere condolences to Wehdy and all of Rick's family, his friends and colleagues in the Patch. and a special note to anyone he served with in the Army in SWA. Rick was an unassuming gentle man who came up through the school of hard knocks. He faithfully served his country, his family, and his crew every day of his life. He was a kindred spirit who lived each day with courage, got the job done by being situationally aware, and allowed others to do their jobs. He always Rode for the Brand...and made certain that all under his purview did the same...he did not care to mince words, he said what he meant and you could take that to heart. Bottom line: Rick Reavill was a bonfaide hero, a leader and mentor of men and women around the world. He will be missed. Rick...until we meet at "Fiddler's Green", I remain very respectfully yours, Neal.
