Obituary For Michael Joseph Moore

Mike Moore died on July 13, 2026, at the age of 72, with his family at his side; which is exactly how he would have wanted it, because above everything else, Mike cared about his family.

He was born December 6, 1953, in Mendota, Illinois, to Charlotte (Swanson) and A.P. Moore. The second of five children, he grew up alongside brothers Pat, Tim, and Kevin, and his sister Erin.

Mike married Jeri (Barshinger), and they built a life together for over 51 years, raising their two children, Chris and Shanon in Woodridge, Illinois, where Mike practiced dentistry. He was truly devoted to his patients and their wellbeing for over 40 years. When they retired, they moved to Bellingham, Washington, to be closer to their kids.

Mike did nothing halfway. When something caught his interest, he went in headfirst; trumpet, stained glass, scuba diving, coaching, and later a real devotion to the two sports he loved the most. He was an avid golfer and a phenomenal trapshooter, giving his time to his shooting club and, more recently, to the Washington State Trapshooting Organization, PITA. He loved riding his enduro motorcycle fast with the music loud.

But the throughline of his life was loyalty. He was fiercely loyal to his wife, his family, and his friends, and he was deeply humble about all of it. He could say a thousand words with a single glance. Knowing Mike meant knowing his looks and behind all of them was an enormous heart. His love for the people close to him was immense and unwavering.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte and A.P., and his brothers Pat and Tim. He is survived by his wife, Jeri; his son, Chris, and Chris's wife, Keri; his daughter, Shanon, and her partner, Dylan Premble; his Uncle Martin, brother Kevin and sister Erin and their families.

A memorial service will be held at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Bellingham on August 1st at 1:00 PM. The service will be streamed on YouTube. A Celebration of Life will be held in IL over Thanksgiving weekend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Association, The Bellingham Threshold Singers, Bellingham Central Lions Club or Meals on Wheels.

Mike came and saw me as a therapist but...our relationship quickly evolved beyond therapy and we quickly became close friends within a matter of months. I loved his quick sense of humor and the total ease of our friendship. I miss him already. My own mother had chosen the same route a couple months prior Mike's passing so I knew in my soul, experientially, that he had chosen a dignified way to exit this life. He made sure that I met his lovely wife and children. I'll miss him❣️

I worked for Mike as his dental assistant, we made a great team for over 20 years. Garry and I loved Mike and Jeri such a great couple. My heart was broke when I found out Mike was sick, he was so athletic and loved his family! He was a great dentist feel honored that I worked with him! We had a lot in common, both grew up on farms, loved playing euchre! Rest in peace buddy!
