Obituary For Lori Lea Stuart

We are heartbroken to share the news of our mother, Lori Lea Stuart’s passing on October 29th 2025 in Bellingham, Washington. Lori was born on June 28th, 1959, in Spokane, Washington to Richard James McNeil and Carolyn Mae Petershick of Oakesdale, Washington. She was predeceased by her parents and her stepdad John Alan Young whom she all loved deeply. She moved to Ferndale, WA in 7th grade where she grew up, built lifelong friendships, and married Scott Alan Stuart. Together they raised their children and created a family that remained at the center of Lori’s world throughout her life

Lori leaves behind her former husband and lifelong best friend Scott Alan Stuart of Blaine, Washington; her daughter Kara Lynn Stuart (Tim Dawson)and grandson Deagan Dawson of Bellingham, Washington; her youngest daughter Sheri Ann Murphy (Brian Murphy) and granddaughter Kenzie Murphy & grandson Logan Murphy of Blaine, Washington. She is also survived by her sister Debra McNeil (Jack McGrath) of Pullman, Washington; her brother Mike McNeil (Louise Mcneil) of Deer Park, Washington stepsisters and brother; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members; a forever friend; and many other friends.

Anyone who knew mom knew she had a special soul: comforting, compassionate, fiercely protective, empathic, loving, and not afraid to stand up for those who could not. Most of her working life was spent taking care of others. In her last career as a dialysis technician for Mt Baker Kidney Center her kindness and dedication were particularly deeply felt.

Lori had a profound and deep love for life, good food, nature, road trips, music, and sunrises/sunsets. Alpen glow was her favorite. A quiet beauty that reflected her own spirit.

She taught her girls many things but the legacy that she leaves behind is this: to slow down, enjoy the little things, be kind, show grace, and love deeply with intention. Lori was incredibly strong and no matter the battles she faced she always made time for others. She will be deeply missed more than words can express every single day.

Please join us in celebrating Lori's life at "Moms Favorite Kind of Day" Memorial on April 25th in Birch Bay, Washington. For details please reach out to Sheri Murphy or Kara Stuart.
