Killian Luis Michael Gonzales, affectionately known as Killi-Bo-Billy, passed away on July 12, 2026, at the age of six, surrounded by family. He was born February 17, 2020, in Bellingham, Washington, to Sonja McCartney and Marcos Gonzales.
Killian spent his first year in Maple Falls before his family moved to Bellingham, where he was in kindergarten at Alderwood Elementary School. He was in the middle of learning to cook his own breakfast, working on riding his bike without training wheels, and getting the hang of swimming. He excelled at math and was becoming a confident reader and write. He wrote and illustrated a story for the Children's Art Walk in downtown Bellingham.
Killian loved being outside, riding his scooter, and finding creatures wherever he could. He tended his own snail farm and helped feed the family's lizards, which he loved. He was a fan of Minecraft, Roblox, and Goat Simulator, and he adored his dogs. Some of his favorite people to be with were his school friends, who he talked about often, and his uncle “B”, with whom he loved to play.
Killian's family holds close the memories of trips to Rockaway Beach in Oregon, the yearly outing to Bellewood Acres pumpkin patch, his sixth birthday at Mach 1 Adventure Park, ice cream outings with Papa, and weekends at The Glen with Grandma and PopPop. He was always ready for a field trip or a weekend adventure.
Killian was happy, always smiling and laughing.. He was full of energy, endlessly curious, and always ready for a snack. He was quick to say “I love you” and “you're the best,” and he gave the biggest hugs. He had a way of making sure everyone felt included
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Luis Gonzales.
Killian is survived by his parents, Sonja McCartney & Marcos Gonzales; his sister, Maisie Gonzales; grandma Lynne Cunningham and PopPop Michael Cunningham; Papa, Michael Karb & grammy, Christina Karb; great grandparents Gary & Bonnie Karb; great-grandmother Kaye McCartney; great-grandma Sandra Renfro; grandi, Sigrid Cunningham; uncles James Karb & Gary Bruun; auntie Jacinda McCartney; auntie & uncle Rebecca and Joe Hahs; uncle & aunt Jared and Carli Post; and Uncle “B”, Brandon Post; along with many cousins, aunties, uncles, and extended family throughout Whatcom County.
