Kenneth Wayne Hudson Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Highgate Senior Living in Bellingham, WA.
Ken was born on November 10, 1945, in Houston, Texas, to Early and Hallie Hudson. He grew up in Humble, Texas, where he attended high school before enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving in Vietnam. Many years later, Ken proudly received an honorary graduation diploma at his Humble High School reunion.
On July 3, 1982, Ken married the love of his life, Becky Hudson, and together they blended their families. He dedicated over 30 years to Whatcom County Public Works before retiring, only to return for an additional two years to help create and lead a safety training program.
Ken was a man of many stories and a deep love for his family and friends. He enjoyed reading historical books, golfing, camping along the Oregon coast, and maintaining their home in a beautiful, park-like setting. Known for his craftsmanship, Ken loved building things with his hands—always preferring to create rather than buy. He will be sorely missed by family and friends for his smile and his laughter.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Early, Jimmy, and Helen. He is survived by his beloved wife Becky; daughter Michelle Violette; son Ken Wayne Hudson Jr. (wife Allyson); stepsons Todd Lindsey (wife Denise) and Chad Lindsey (wife Laura); grandchildren Caleb, Rhiannon, Travis, Brandon, Adam, and Alex; and 10 great‑grandchildren, including Jaxon Wayne Hudson, who shares the family middle name Wayne with his great‑grandfather and grandfather. He is also survived by two special nephews, Mack Hudson and Bill Ziehl.
A Memorial Service will be held for Ken on Wednesday, February 4, 2:00pm at Portal Creek Park Clubhouse, 6350 Portal Way, Ferndale, WA.
Ken's final resting place is in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale.
