Donald J. Serdotz, age 86, has peacefully passed away, leaving a legacy of warmth and fond memories. Born in Salem, Oregon, Don’s youth was spent at home with his parents Mack and Margaret. Church was important to his family. Don had a beautiful bond with his maternal grandparents and was particularly close with his mother. She was the anchor of his heart. For his entire life, Don maintained a cherished relationship with family friends, Kate and Claude, who visited several times a year. Visits that Don so looked forward to.

Don lived a life filled with simple pleasures, deep affection, faith, and a gentle spirit. He found pure joy in the world around him. He had a love of boats and anything having to do with the sea, even if it was simply watching waves on the beach or taking a ride on a ferry. Don appreciated nature and enjoyed visiting park, scenic car rides, people watching and visits to the Seattle Aquarium. He spent many happy hours watching classic Westerns and cowboy shows like Gunsmoke and The Rifleman. No summer was complete without a trip to The Lynden Fair to ride the carousel horses. Don enjoyed Senior Center events, parades and jazz festival and could be just as happy savoring a cup of hot cocoa and a relaxing evening at home cutting his ever-revolving collection of leather shoelaces. Some of Don’s happiest moments were spent celebrating his favorite holidays, Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Since 2003, Don was a cherished resident within the Holly Community Services family, where he brought constant light to those around him. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his selected family, his friends and all the dedicated individuals who had the privilege of caring for him.
