Christopher David Young

06/14/1966 - 10/21/2026

Christopher David “Chris” Young, 60, of Bellingham, WA passed away peacefully with his daughters, Emily and Maddie, at his side in the early morning of October 21, 2026. Described by one of his oldest friends as “one of a kind, a tough exterior with a heart of gold,” Chris was deeply loved and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Chris was born abroad in Lausanne, Switzerland and loved sharing stories about the years of his childhood spent living in Rome, Italy. Primarily, Chris grew up in Libertyville, IL, graduating from Libertyville High School in 1984. Chris was very proud to be from the Chicago area. He loved Chicago pizza and Italian beef sandwiches, John Hughes movies, and was a lifelong fan of Chicago sports, especially the Cubs, the Bears, and the Blackhawks.

In 1996, drawn to its beautiful scenery and temperate weather, Chris moved to Bellingham, WA, where he started his family. He started working as a delivery driver at FedEx in 2000 and worked there until he retired in 2023. At work, Chris loved connecting with customers, colleagues, and dogs; he always carried treats in his truck for any dog who greeted him. Two routes he was especially proud to have worked during his time at FedEx were the Sudden Valley route and the Point Roberts route.

Chris loved animals, nature, going for drives, classic rock music, and 80s movies. He was particularly good at trivia and loved to show it off watching Jeopardy. The greatest joy of Chris’s life was being a father to his two daughters, Emily and Maddie. He truly loved being a “girl dad” and indulging in all of their interests with them, from Barbies and High School Musical to biking and politics.

Chris was preceded in death by his father Robert David “Dave” Young, and his mother, Brenda “Glee” Young.

Chris is survived by his daughters and their respective partners: Emily and Maddie Young, Joey Lucas, and Seth Embury, as well as his former wife, Vicki Truchan, all of Bellingham, WA. He is also survived by his brother, sister-in-law, and nephew: Tim, Cristen, and Ryan Young of Libertyville, IL.
